I had the luxury of a few hours on my own this week. My mum and step-dad came to look after the children and I went to Le Blanc. I've said before this is a special place because this is where the children were born. After a wander around the town I set to drive back home but stopped to take a look in the direction signed for the old town. We've driven up here before but have ended back on the main road - too many one way streets and no entry signs. So, I parked in a quiet courtyard and set off with my camera. I spotted overgrown stone steps in the corner and started the ascent. So many steps! Near the top I could hear and just see men strimming. I had no idea where the top would come out and nearly turned back wondering if I'd ever be seen again.
I'm so glad I didn't. At the top of the steps I was faced with a Chateau! The gates were open so I entered to a deserted courtyard (there is a school and a nursery here - what cool place to attend school) except for a woman walking her dog whose parents lived in the next village to us. Small world! I then took more publicly used steps down out of the Chateau to the old town before heading off home.
