Fig love

We've had a fig tree in the orchard (across the road) since we bought our house 5 years ago. We've never had any figs from it. Being a busy year with baby, child and husband working non-stop the orchard is completely overgrown and being (semi) self-sufficient has been a bit of a disaster! Thank you step-pops for risking the knee high grass, hornets, snakes and wasps for a basket full of figs. I've made two meals with them and tried to sneak them into Bella's apple compote but she wasn't having any of it.

Also today. Unrelated Sam quote "Mummy, I'm hungry my leg is rumbling". Funny :)

And also today a nice surprise this morning when reading one of my favourite blogs from my lovely friend Lori. I can't wait! You can read it here.

  1. i love figs and your use of natural lighting. the lighting in my place here leaves a lot to be desired - hence very few pictures taken from inside my home. ah the lovely lori. i'm glad i introduced you two.

  2. your blog is lovely.

and i know lovely because i know lori. you and bella (and sam) must be very special to be the recipients of that amazing red cape.

  3. Stunning pictures - brings back a memory of mine.

My grandma used to have a neighbour with a fig tree. My cousins and I used to eat the figs off the branch that hanged over her fence. I haven't eaten figs since my childhood.

  4. I'm obsessed with figs. OBSESSED! Yum!

and that red cape is just darling, how lucky you are, Bella! x

  5. oops, how did i miss this? love the last photo, and you do have the most beautiful light. i see my name, hee hee.

  6. gorgeous. the figs. the light. yummm...

we love fresh fig, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar pizza. :)
