Randomness...

I was a tomboy too (like Lou) and as soon as I got home from school would run to my p.e. teachers house (lived on the same street) and get him to come and play football and cricket.

I daydream a lot.

I had an epileptic fit the night before my gcse exams and lost my memory, therefore I couldn't take any exams. I still got given the grades though!

I was a terrible student as I had left home by the time I studied at college. It was a catholic college and Sister Kate would come and knock on my door at 8am just to get me to my lessons. It didn't work.

I met my husband when I was 18 but we didn't get together until I was 24. I wrote him a letter and hoped he still lived at the same address. Half an hour later, he called me and I knew 'that was it'. He said he knew I would come to my senses! Cheek.

Not long after we started going out, we had our tarot cards read and the lady told us we would live abroad and have 4 children....4?

When Scott was proposing to me, I got the wrong end of the stick and thought he was dumping me. He couldn't finish what he was trying to say because I was hysterical!

I used to run and hide in my grandad's pub at dinnertime when I was at primary school and the dinner ladies would have to come and find me.

I worry far too much about what other people think.

And therefore, I bite my lips all the time.

I used to fall asleep everywhere. In nightclubs, on trains - missing my stop, in my english literature classes. I try and keep awake these days.

Questions from Lou
....
1. What is your favourite thing to eat for Breakfast?
    Butter croissants are a treat.
2. What was your playground skill as a child?
    Leapfrog and hopscotch
3. The name of your first pet?
Cindy the rabbit. I remember her because she ate all her babies!
4. If you were a tree, which tree would it be?
    A red cherry blossom
5. What is your life long dream?
We are living our dream, but it is very hard work. I think we would like to be able to travel and live somewhere a little warmer! Oh and have a little apartment in a city somewhere too.
6. If you could compete in the Olympics, what would be your sport?
Definitely the 1500 metres. I was in the local running club and that was always my best run. I would love starting slow and     then take over everyone in the last 200 metres.
7. What is your biggest achievement to date?
Having two children. I am so squeamish and was terrified about having Sam and to learn they didn't have gas and air in the French hospital. They had epidurals, which I was adamant I didn't want - I lasted to just 4 cm before shouting epidural s'il vous plait!
8. What is your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
To go to the market if we're organised and ready as it closes at midday.
9. How big are your feet?
   Size 7
10. What is the one thing you hate doing the most?
   Shouting
11. If you could kiss anyone, who would it be?
Well, if I wasn't married of course - Colin Firth springs to mind.

Half term

It's half-term this week. It seems such a long time since Christmas school holidays. Scott's mum is with us for  2 weeks - aka "Nana on the plane". The day she arrived, Sam asked every 5 minutes when would she be here.

My blanket is growing, slowly and so is my yarn and fabric stash. My buttons on the other hand keep mysteriously disappearing....

Nigella's chocolate mouse cake...yum :)

Spring, is that you?

It certainly feels like Spring. We spent a couple of hours outside exploring the garden. Whilst Sam pretended he was Spiderman (must get him a spiderman costume), Bella picked snowdrops and um ate mud - just a little bit. She won't try other foods but she'll try mud!

A big thrifty find and a bag

It was ironic that I bought this 1970's sofa so we could snuggle next to the fire in colder weather. A day after my man with a van went to collect it, everything froze and we moved out. 2 weeks later and we can sit and be warm and cozy. Apart from Sam who uses it to demonstrate his spiderman moves.

It is also a sofa bed - though I'm a bit funny about sleeping on something so old but it is of fantastic quality - all for 40 euros! And a crochet knitting bag which I could not resist for 1 euro ;)

Mealtimes

Mealtimes are a little difficult at the moment. I'm trying to encourage Bella to eat different foods, but she still favours pasta - plain old pasta. And she is very stubborn. We are progressing though. But if I turn my head for a second she jumps down and gives her dinner to the dog. Sam is however seeing all of  this as an opportunity to earn some 'stars' and has this last week eaten lettuce and broccoli - declaring "broccoli is my favourite!" I never thought I'd hear my son say those words.

This weekend

This weekend was so much more pleasant weather wise than the last freezing one. Warmer temperatures and returning home with our house mostly intact - thanks to my husband and a friend armed with pipes and soldering irons. Running water - how I have taken these things for granted! Parts of the kitchen were beyond help, but lucky us have a handy joiner who can whizz something up.

Other than that, we've been enjoying Sam and Bella's singing and dancing shows. Sam sings French songs learnt from school and Bella dances and inevitably tries to dominate the stage. And I've been trying to grow Sam's hair as I love his natural curls.

Lately

Things have got back to normal lately. Back to work and school. The big freeze has melted but we're still not home because of burst pipe(s) - just one so far.

We are all keeping ourselves occupied between home and Scott's parents. Bella has been bathing in a box! and Sam is being the big boy, showering. And, Bella has been sleeping in a bed! I am however exhausted with being unable to sleep for worrying she may fall out. She hasn't though - she snuggles up towards the wall.

Tunic for Miss Bella Jessie

This was supposed to be all the same fabric but typical me didn't order enough and had use something else for the sleeves. Oh well, it can be a practice one.

I bought the pattern from this etsy shop and will definitely be making another one, maybe a little longer for warmer weather (I wish!).

p.s. an item of clothing with an elasticated neckline is perfect for trying to change a toddler whilst running.

Lego creations

A week of lego creations. Mostly vehicles of one kind or another and usually made with rescue not speed in mind. With pully systems and tow bars and even a mounted jet ski or motorbike. With a little help and guidance from Scott, I'm loving these lego mobiles around the house.

Lots of lego play makes Sam a tired little boy.

More snow photos....sorry

I need to do a lego post, because that is all Sam has been doing for the last week. I've been sent home (to check emails and update blog) and to search for more lego. "We need wheels!"

Sam is definitely an indoor person and Bella an outdoor person. I had to carry her back in yesterday before her feet froze!
