Healthy eating

Lately, I've been making an effort to eat healthier. I focus all my eating efforts on children's meals that I don't eat properly myself and it was starting to show. So muesli for breakfast, salads for lunch, fish, eggs and lots of fruit. I'm having fun experimenting with salads (which I never thought could be interesting), smoothies and frozen fruit yogurts. Not as boring as I thought it would be :)

  1. I know exactly what you mean. I feel like I eat loads of fruit and veg every day, and then I realise that I haven't, I've just prepared and given it to my little one but none of it has actually passed my lips! Love you table cloth and other lovely French linens. Mrs Bx

  2. These photos are everything I imagine a provincial life in France to be! x

p.s - good on you for taking care of yourself. It's easy to neglect yourself when you're busy with littles!

  5. French products always look healthier than Aussie products! I think the packaging is classier and more subdued. Or something.

I am also on a 'health kick'. My accident has hammered (ouch!) home the importance of being strong and vital.

  6. Andrea, your pictures are just getting more stunning with every post! Try growing some sprouting seeds as they are so tasty on salads and sandwiches and they are full of vitamins. The kids will enjoy doing it too. x

  7. Lovely photos today. Eating more healthily is always easier in the summer with all the yummy soft fruits in season. I find salads are good with some beans in them like canelini or pinto. They add flavour and help me stay fuller longer. (god I sound like an advert for canned beans!)

  9. yumm....strawberries.

i rarely eat fruit...starfruit, bananna, mango, paw paw, pear...and berries but rarely. i'm not an apple or orange girl (only in juices).

Meanwhile, I am eyeing off (and sketching) photo number 2.
I have been starting to some still life drawing lately, and that composition is begging to be painted.
    Hope to do it justice......

  10. Funny, I've been doing the same. It got to the point that I was eating terribly - scraps from the kids' tea, eating on the run. Not good at all.

I think there's something about the ritual of food that gets lost. I'm trying to use nice crockery, to cut up an apple and eat from a plate rather than just from my hand, to make something special even if it's just a bowlful of berries. Your photographs evoke this elevation from the ordinary to the extraordinary - they're beautiful.
