Pottering around the house when the children are at school. Not getting anywhere fast. It's nice to spend time just the four of us, these last few weeks before we get to meet the new little buckle.

Home life

We're all set for summer. Bella optimistically wears her new pink sunglasses - in the house. Hats and sun cream are ready too. However, we're mostly indoors due to crazy weather conditions. We had so much rain that water came down the chimney pushing a lot of soot with it, blocking the pipe - so we're down to one fire (and using the wood meant for next winter) and it's a bit chilly.

I've been trying to organize our rooms upstairs into spaces for adults, children and baby. Our sleeping area and baby's cot is under the alcoves - very cosy.

I also had a successful shop at the charity shops for my birthday, thanks to my mum and step-dad. I got so much more for my money - pictures, clothes and fabric. Which reminds me of all the sewing I have to do.

Photos from the last couple of weeks. Bella is always sat at the table crafting away. Since 7am this morning in fact. Sam isn't so creative but naturally leans towards science and maths which he asks to do after school! During the holidays he wanted to perfect his writing, so I copied pages of his school workbook. I love that one of the excercises was to practice writing 'idiote'!

Bella is happy drawing, cutting and gluing. She doesn't stick by the rules of drawing on one piece of paper. (As I type she is cutting paper plates and sticking them to paper). It became apparent yesterday when I collected her from school. Her teacher told me she had been a 'coquine' - naughty in other words. Disrupting the nap time, refusing to sleep and something about mealtime. Sam later told me she was eventually sat next to the teaching assistant. We can't help but find this a little funny. She is a little character

Holidays

 

We're in the first week of half term and so far the weather has been kind to us. Garden clean-up has started. Scott has cut back all the bushes which normally hide us from the road. I like the openess and chatting to the neighbours who take their daily 'tour' around the village.

Hello!

Hello! I've been doing a little cleaning and tidying at home and trying to warm the place up. The sun was shining for once. Now 20 weeks pregnant and feeling so huge I may topple over. A bad back ensues, which is my own fault I know.

It's been so wet, I got our car stuck in the mud. Fortunately, a neighbour spotted me wheel spinning and came to help. Many car mats under the back wheels later, he got another neighbour to come with his van and tow rope...nope. The man with the van went to ask a man with a pickup.....yes! Community spirit at its best :)

Vintage-ness

Be it a tin or a chipped cup, being surrounded by vintage, wondering where it came from makes me smile. Of course most of it goes in my shop, but I get to enjoy them for a while.

We're settling into Scott's parents house down the road. It took a few days for the children, especially Bella to sleep through the night, but other than that, they're very happy....and warm!

Sam has started tennis lessons at school which he loves. He reminded me of a mini footballer warming up around the court. He loves to be inside usually, so spending an hour outdoors getting some excercise did him the world of good.

Bella's artwork just gets better. I love the dragon she painted. Definately one for framing.
