Bella wanted to make something with me. She's seen me sewing again recently and wanted in with the action. So, we made a simple bunny head from an old t-shirt and she drew the face with fabric pens. Her first sewing project complete!

Sewing with Bella

Snuggler
I've been doing some sewing and crocheting for the baby. With maybe 5 weeks to go, I'd better a move on. This is a snuggler from Simple Sewing for Baby by Lotta Jansdotter. I'm not sure if it will come in useful. The baby may not like being swaddled and it may (wishful thinking) be too hot. It didn't take long to make and I'll pass it on to Bella for her dolls, so it won't completely go to waste. Next up - an attempt at making a baby sling!

Out there
When looking through my photos from the last couple weeks, I realized that every one had a soggy, muddy theme to it. I can't remember the last time it was dry. This weekend promises 22oC on Sunday!
Nevertheless, Sam and Bella don't seem to notice that the garden is a quagmire and enjoy splashing in puddles and digging for the largest worms.
p.s. I made Sam's jeans in the second photo. With side pockets and everything!

Japanese pattern dress
I received Happy Homemade Vol 2 recently and this pattern was one of the first in the book. Unfortunately for me it's in Japanese, but by following the diagrams I came up with this dress. I've no idea if it's correct, but it fits and looks nice.
As soon as Bella put it on (had I not have stopped her) she was disappearing out of the door with her wellies and wet hair to jump in puddles - because there are a lot of those at the moment!

Little outfit
I think I have overcome my fear of sewing with t-shirt fabric and sewing the neck line. This pattern was from Vetements Facile (Japanese patterns) and fits perfectly! The trousers, I copied an old pair and made them a little larger.

New pattern book
A little treat for me. A Japanese pattern book full of gorgeous outfits - which hopefully can be adapted for my pregnant bump. Completed projects to follow....maybe!

Dress for Bella
I made Bella a dress recently from my Japanese pattern book. It's the second time I've made this. The first attempt was too small. This time it's the perfect size but too short. That's ok, she can wear it as a tunic.

Little leggings
On a trip to the fabric shop last week to buy more stuffing for cushions, I spotted this jersey fabric. Perfect for tiny leggings and enough left to make a cushion cover. I love the pattern and have the same in green. Expect more legging photos!

Bits and pieces
A rather wonky dress for Bella. Will do better next time! I had to add extra fabric to the bottom a few days later as it was too short.
Eating healthy food. I've replaced cows milk with soya now. Such a big difference. Less potatoes and meat too.
A not so healthy chocolate cake, although it did contain almonds instead of flour!
Much puddle jumping activity. Say no more....
Sam's latest obsession is with building lego robots online at herofactory.
Family drawing and maths session. Sam shares his teacher with the next year up and whilst Sam's class is doing workbook activities the older year are doing maths. Sam told us he finishes his work as quickly as possible so he can listen to the maths lesson. So Scott has been doing simple maths with Sam (Sam's request) in the evening.

Apple cushion anyone....?
I love sewing and I love vintage and making the most of fabric I buy from the charity shop = cushions! In many shapes hopefully, but this weekend I've been busy making apple cushions.
The first one went in my etsy shop last night and sold within minutes, thanks to my instagram buddies. Thank you!
(The first two photos were practice runs).
