Succulents - nature in the home

A couple of years ago, we found this old wooden box in the barn. Since then, it's been used for books, magazines and later pens and crayons for the children. Now, I've transformed it into a home for succulents. Hopefully it will work. I've lined it with plastic,  small stones and soil and so far they seem happy.

Joining Lou for this weeks Nature in the Home. And thank you Lou for choosing my photo from last week!

May Day!

Happy May day! And it's sunny...yay! I love May for reasons such as my birthday, my sister-in-laws birthday, Sam's birthday and my mums 60th! You don't look it mother :)

Plus, I received my prize from Col @Hello Olive all the way from Cape Town. Beautiful, beautiful cards and gift wrap. I will actually frame a couple of the cards I think. Thank you :) p.s. the kids love the cardboard tube - Bella marches around shouting into it.

I've decided not to go to the May Day fair today. Scott is working and the parking is a nightmare and the crowds too. So, with two kids........

So, we'll enjoy the sun and go and say hi to our two new chicks we bought yesterday.

Frugal gardening

I'm on a mission this year to garden frugally and use what is already in the garden. I will try and split more plants and bulbs instead of buying annuals from the garden centre. Splitting the iris' and house lettuce worked well last year, so in theory time will be better spent on the veggies.
